Shawn Delifus/Technique & Training Specialist

Coach Shawn will be returning to Palmer Swim Team again this year but in limited capacity.  Since Coach Shawn has a full time, year round swim coaching position with Blue Eagle Swim Team (BEST), Coach Shawn discussed and decided that he could not dedicate enough time or coach at full capacity to provide the deserved attention for all swimmers at PST.  His BEST meet schedule also conflicts more than last year’s.  He will be at some meets and at some practices throughout the season to assist swimmers and other coaches with stroke technique and specialized workouts.  He will be there to discuss swimming with parents and answer any questions needed.  He will continue to be a critical face of swimming in the community.

Prior to moving to Nazareth, Shawn had spent seven years in Florida coaching.  During that time, he has coached first time top-ten swimmers at both YMCA Nationals and Age Group Championships,  he has coached six top-ten nationally ranked age groupers, two state record holders, the 2010 Florida Swimmer of the Year, and four Olympic trial qualifiers. Coach Shawn has also coached collegiately as has earned an American Swim Coach Association (ASCA) Level 4 certification.  Shawn owes his coaching success to a philosophy that consists of a strong focus on stroke technique progressions and long-term strength conditioning.

Coach Shawn is excited to continue working with PST as he sees the opportunity to strengthen PST and grow the sport of swimming in the Lehigh Valley Community.  Shawn has worked extensively with Swim Hybrid, a program designed to enhance the swimming community by providing camps, clinics, and private lessons.  Shawn is also a member of the Florida swimming diversity committee and has been an active member in his new community striving to create the same awareness of the sport and enhancing the development of equal opportunities for those who love the sport.  Palmer Swim Team is the perfect place for Coach Shawn to get more families and kids excited about the sport of swimming….whether it is the 7 year old newcomer or the experienced high school swimmer looking not only to stay in shape for next high school season but to also gain a competitive edge.
